This group was formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. Three brothers, a cousin and a classmate were a major influence in the 60's. Brought the surf craze into the national consciousness. The result was one of the few American acts who could hold their own, creatively and commercially, with the rising British Invasion. Here is the groups profile Click here

Featured Group

The band's leader production techniques proved revolutionary and brilliant. This group helped advance and personalize rock and roll songwriting, created two of the biggest landmarks in pop history, helped influence their peers in the Sixties pop scene tremendously and introduced harmonies which were a major influence on pop and rock. One of the early names of the band was Kenny and the Cadets. The group had 4 number 1 hits and 13 top 10 albums. Some of their songs have been covered by David Lee Roth, Art Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, Neil Diamond, David Bowie, Andy Williams and The Cowsills.

Let's find out who John Henry Ramistella is?

From my profile you will have read that I grew up in the Hollywood / San Fernando area of California. My friends and I used to cruise Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards on many a Saturday night. We were in high school at the time and too young to be allowed in where he was performing. Our featured artist, John Henry Ramistella, used to play at the Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood. He had one number one hit and eight top ten hits. My girlfriend and I made a special trip to Tunica, Mississippi to see him on stage with his band at one of the many casinos in Tunica. I think the auditorium holds close to 2,500 people. Looking around, I did not notice many empty seats. He sang two songs that we had not heard before, which now turns out to be my two favorites of his. These are "China" and "House of Blues". I think I have kept many of you wondering who John Henry Ramistella is. Some of you may already know. Still wondering? Click here

60's Tunes and Trivia music-related web site!

I was doing research for my blog on 60’s tunes and trivia to start adding articles about featured artists, music history, the best of the 60's tunes, top songs for each year of the 60's, etc. I want to add 60’s trivia since it always interesting. And, of course, the 60’s tunes is what I grew up listening to. I found this site quite by accident and was glad I did. Just the Top Lists they have is unbelievable! Just as an example, Top songs of the year for 1950-2008, 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs, 100 Greatest 60's Rock Songs, Top 100 Love Songs and too many more to count! Just reading through all the lists brings back fond memories of the 60's for me. It was certainly a time for fun and during the summer in Southern California, my friends and I used to go to the beach many times a week. I remember Venice Beach, Zuma Beach and Leo Carillo Beach. Leo Carillo is best known for the tv series The Cisco Kid. The site also sells ringtones for many 60's tunes. Check it out yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised as to what they offer. http://www.nutsie.com/
