Featured group from Hawthorne, CA
This group was formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. Three brothers, a cousin and a classmate were a major influence in the 60's. Brought the surf craze into the national consciousness. The result was one of the few American acts who could hold their own, creatively and commercially, with the rising British Invasion. Here is the groups profile Click here

As soon as I saw Hawthorne, I knew this was the Beach Boys. Used to surf (not very well) at Zuma, Malibu (once in a while), Huntington Beach and Dana Point. My friend had a 64' El Camino and used to have 3 sufboards in the back. Wore our "Dewey Weber" t-shirts every chance we could.
ReplyDeleteMY favorite Beach Boy song is "Don't Worry Baby" followed by "I Get Around".
The Beach Boys lived close by to me in Torrance. It was like having the most famous group in the world so nearby. All of us girls were star struck at that time. The music was just so cool and we went to the beach many times a week during the summer. It was a memorable time.
ReplyDeleteThe Beach Boys were so entertaining. Just the falsetto in the background was just amazing. It just added to the already wonderful music and lyrics. They had so many great songs, especially Surfin' and Surfin USA. The Calfornia boys were so full of energy and talent.
ReplyDeleteBeach Boys are the number one surfer group of all time. Their influence most likely created lots of jobs and more surfboard makers. How can anyone not like the Beach Boys?
