Let's find out who John Henry Ramistella is?

From my profile you will have read that I grew up in the Hollywood / San Fernando area of California. My friends and I used to cruise Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards on many a Saturday night. We were in high school at the time and too young to be allowed in where he was performing. Our featured artist, John Henry Ramistella, used to play at the Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood. He had one number one hit and eight top ten hits. My girlfriend and I made a special trip to Tunica, Mississippi to see him on stage with his band at one of the many casinos in Tunica. I think the auditorium holds close to 2,500 people. Looking around, I did not notice many empty seats. He sang two songs that we had not heard before, which now turns out to be my two favorites of his. These are "China" and "House of Blues". I think I have kept many of you wondering who John Henry Ramistella is. Some of you may already know. Still wondering? Click here

  1. I always liked Johnny Rivers. He can play that guitar! A very prominent voice that is so very distinctive. I did not know all the wonderful things he has done, especially when young.

  2. Glad I stumbled upon your colorful site. Of course I'm familiar with Johnny Rivers, especially for the song "Secret Agent Man". I guess you could say I'm more of a "late baby boomer" (born in the early fifties)- so I'm interested in seeing more about the Beatles, the Stones, the Doors, etc.

  3. Johnny Rivers is just fabulous. I know he's been around a long time and is still doing tours as I did check his tour schedule. Unfortunately, he is not in my area. But I can still listen to the albums I bought back 35-45 years ago or so. Enjoyed the profile. Sometimes we never try to find info on our favorite musicians.

  4. It's Saturday night and I found your blog a few minutes ago. I love the 60's music era. Had so much fun in high school listening to music, going to sock hops and hanging out with some of my girlfriends. So it's time to find my Johnny Rivers collection and relax for the evening.

  6. I think "House of Blues" has great lyrics! And he mentions Ben E. King & Johnny Lee Hooker. Excellent song.

  7. Johnny Rivers and his band are fabulous. Soothing voice too. Always belts out his songs. The band is always at a good level so as not to drown out Johnny's voice. He has sung and covered so many songs and I have found all of them enjoyable. My collection of albums is not big but I am thinking about buying some CD's soon since I just bought another CD player. Also can listen to them on the way to/from work.
